Documentation

A new Floor online help has been created. This help explains the Guided interfaces and the procedures that can be performed from the Guided interfaces.

Guided Interfaces: General

Video

New guided interfaces were added for warehouse receiving and warehouse picking. These new interfaces are expected to reduce the amount of scrolling and clicking that is required.

The guided interfaces will offer the following:

  • Dynamic Fields: You will only be prompted to enter information for fields that are required. For example, you will only be prompted to enter a serial number for serial-tracked items.

  • Default Values: Fields that are pre-defined by a number series or default values are pre-populated. The default value is shown as grey italics in between square brackets. To accept a default value, press <Enter>.

  • Single-scan Bar Codes: When bar codes are set up, you can scan the bar code, and the data will be populated into the Floor fields. When data is embedded in the bar code, you will not be prompted to enter the field.

  • Looping Fields: Some fields only need to be entered once (for example, the Take bin for picks), while other fields will loop through for multiple records (for example, the Bar Code scan for picks), and finally there are fields that will end the guided process (for example, the Place bin for picks).

To set up Floor to work with the Guided interfaces:

The following changes were made:

  • The followings interfaces where added to the Interfaces window:

    • The WHRCPT_LINE_GD

    • The WHSE_ITEM_TRACK_DETS

    • WHSE_COMMENTS

    • PICK_LINE_GD

  • The Bar Code Mapping action was added to the Floor Interface window. The action opens the new Floor Interface Bar Code Mappings window. This window determines how Floor should interact with the data that has been pulled from the scanned bar code, and typically does not need to be changed from what was delivered.

  • The Pick Entry Guided screen was added to Floor.

Guided Interface: Warehouse Receiving

Floor was updated so that there is a new guided interface when performing warehouse receiving. See Whse. Receipt Entry Guided Screen for more information on the new interface.

The Warehouse Receipt Guided window automatically opens in Scan mode, which allows users to scan a label, which will read the label information and populate the relevant fields in Floor. If the bar code does not contain all of the required information, you will be prompted to enter the missing information.

You will be able to input information in the following ways:

  • Scan the vendor label, which inputs the data from the bar code. You'll either be able to keep the vendor label, or you'll need to print a new label
  • Scan a pre-printed label and manually enter the data.
  • Enter information manually, and you'll be required to print a new label.

Scan the Vendor Label-Keep the Label

Video

When a vendor bar code has the necessary information, you can keep the vendor label, and will not be prompted to print a new label. If you want to reuse a vendor label during your warehouse processes, the following conditions need to be met when receiving:

If the scanned bar code does not contain all of the required information such as weight, once you manually enter that information, it will be associated with the bar code and can be used when the bar code is scanned in the future.

Scan the Vendor Label-Print a New Label

Video

When a vendor bar code does NOT have container data (00) or a serial number (21), or the bar code has been previously used during receiving, then you will be prompted to print a new unique bar code that will be used during the warehouse processes. The label that is printed will be what is defined for the Item label type on the Label Configurations window (typically the Inventory Label 23019508), and will contain the bar code that is set up as the default on the Bar Code Types window. The item's information will be stored against the bar code for future use.

In order to scan a vendor label, and print a new label, the following needs to have been completed:

Use a Pre-Printed Label

Video

You have the option of using labels that you've printed ahead of time instead of using the vendor label. Using pre-printed labels means that you will have to manually enter the information about the items you are receiving into Floor. If a pre-printed label has already been used, you will not be able to use it again, and will be prompted to print a new label.

When pre-printed labels are used instead of vendor labels, the following needs to have been completed:

Enter Information Manually

Video

You have the option of not scanning a bar code but instead entering all of the information manually. This can be used in instances where a bar code was not recognized, or a label was too damaged to scan. Once the information has been entered, you will be prompted to print a label, which will contain a unique bar code that will be used during the warehouse processes. The label that is printed will be what is defined for the Item label type on the Label Configurations window (typically the Inventory Label 23019508), and will contain the bar code that is set up as the default on the Bar Code Types window. The item's information will be stored against the bar code for future use.

When entering information manually, the following needs to have been completed:

  • Floor Guided Interfaces were set up.

  • A default bar code was defined for a GS1-128 bar code type on the Bar Code Types window.

  • The Inventory Label (23019508) was set up to print for an Item label type on the Label Configuration window.

Guided Interface: Warehouse Picking

Floor was updated so that there is a new guided interface when performing warehouse picking. See Guided Pick Entry Screen for more information on the new interface.

You will be able to do the following:

  • Use single-scan bar codes

  • Generate serial numbers when none exist

  • Split pick lines

Single-Scan Bar Codes

Video

The Guided Pick Entry screen automatically opens in Scan mode, which allows users to scan a label, which will read the label information and populate the relevant fields in Floor. If the bar code does not contain all of the required information, you will be prompted to enter the missing information.

To use single-scan bar codes:

Add Serial Numbers when None Exist

Video

In some cases, an item might not have a serial number, but one is required for shipping. In these cases, the Guided Pick screen will generate a serial number per item.

Note: This function does not work with single-scan bar codes. The PICK_LINE_GD interface needs to be set up in a certain way in order for this function to work. See Set up Floor Guided Interfaces for a screen shot of how the PICK_LINE_GD interface should be set up

To generate serial numbers:

Split Pick Lines

Video

You have the ability to split picks lines from the Guided Pick interface.

Note: This function does not work with single-scan bar codes. The PICK_LINE_GD interface needs to be set up in a certain way in order for this function to work. See Set up Floor Guided Interfaces for a screen shot of how the PICK_LINE_GD interface should be set up
