A variable weight item’s base unit of measure (UOM) is a non-weight unit such as CASE. JustFoodERP uses serial numbers and lot numbers in order to track the variable weights. The JustFoodERP variable weight functionality allows you to do the following:
Distribute purchased and sold items' costs proportionally by weight.
Distribute item charges proportionally by weight.

Enter a weight tolerance percentage for variable weight items
The way variable weight works depends on how a company use variable weight. Variable weight can be set up in four different ways:
Serial Everywhere: The specific case weights are recorded for all transactions using serial numbers.
Lot Everywhere: The total number of cases and the total weight of the cases are recorded for all transactions using lot numbers.
Lot In, Serial Out: The total number of cases and the total weight of the cases are recorded for INBOUND and MOVE transactions using lot numbers. Specific case weights are recorded on OUTBOUND transactions using serial numbers.
Serial In, Serial Out: Specific cases and total weights are recorded on INBOUND and OUTBOUND transactions using serial numbers. The total number of cases and the total weight of the cases are recorded for MOVE transactions using lot numbers.
