When a sales shipment is posted, this field is updated with the quantity that still needs to be shipped.
For example, you have a sales order of 20 items.
- First shipment is for 8 items. After posting the shipment, the outstanding quantity is 12.
- Second shipment is for 8 items. After posting the shipment, the outstanding quantity is 4.
- Third shipment is for 4 items. After posting the shipment, the outstanding quantity is 0.
